  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION
    OF THE PROGRAM
  • WHAT DOES ‘CULTURE
    OF PEACE’ MEAN?
  • HOW TO BE AN AGENT
    OF SOCIAL CHANGE?
The Culture of Peace Program has evolved through the ongoing efforts of an international, interdisciplinary team of practitioners, in response to a broadly-perceived need to train a growing number of agents for social transformation from all walks of life and in all fields of human endeavor, in support of global efforts to build a lasting culture of peace.
In 1998, the United Nations defined a culture of peace is an integral approach offering an alternative to the culture of war and violence, based on education for peace, the promotion of sustainable economic and social development, respect for human rights, equality between women and men, democratic participation, dialog and tolerance, the free flow of information and disarmament.
Most people wish for a better world and want to work towards it, but often do not know where to start or lack the tools to do so. Being an agent of social change means questioning inherited mental models, recovering lost hope, learning new knowledge, acquiring a new set of skills, and developing unsuspected potentialities to fulfill our wish to become agents of social change towards a culture of peace.
